Dartmoor Accommodation

Lydgate House lies in the very heart of 368 square miles of Dartmoor National Park. This late Victorian Country House, reached by a private lane, is set in its own 36 acres overlooking the East Dart river and valley, offering perfect peace and quiet with direct access onto the moor. Lydgate House, now under new ownership, faces south with stunning views across both valley and moorland and is privately owned and run by Douglas & Anna Geikie, who aim to provide the very best in personal service.

Following major refurbishment over the last seven years, Lydgate House has been awarded 5 Stars by the AA, as well as the Little Gem Award (the highest accolade possible) from the RAC every year since 2001. Which? Hotel Guide selected Lydgate House as a Hotel of the Year for 2003 (Tranquil Treasure category) and it is also recommended by both the Good Hotel Guide and Michelin. The RAC have also awarded two rosettes for dining.

Guests return again and again to Lydgate House and most new visitors come through recommendation.
