“Christmas Break

We spent the Christmas weekend here about 25 years ago and thought it was about time for a return visit. We were given a warm welcome by Sarah and Kelly - mince pies and mulled wine. The room was very comfortable and they managed two beds as we requested. The food and service were excellent with particular attention to our dietary requirements. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't conducive to a trip out on Christmas Day, but we were well looked after - reading in the lounge by the log fire. Excellent company in the evening with the other guests. On Boxing Day we were able to go for a nice walk locally, followed by a longer drive around the moor. All in all, a lovely Christmas break well presented by Sarah, John & Kelly which we hope to repeat” Gilly and Pete- Cambridge.

By arriving early, you’ll have the opportunity to settle in at your own pace, fully relax, and soak in the serene atmosphere before the festivities begin. Take this time to explore your surroundings with a leisurely afternoon stroll, or simply unwind in the luxurious comfort of Lydgate House.

Our team will handle all the details, allowing you to unwind and enjoy the tranquil ambiance of our hotel.

As evening falls, enjoy a delightful three-course dinner, thoughtfully curated from our exquisite evening menu, setting the perfect tone for a memorable stay.

 

Christmas Eve 

Wake up to a hearty Devonshire Breakfast in the Garden room. Where you can plan your day ahead, maybe visit a National Trust property adorned in Christmas decorations. Take your breath away at Cotehele and view the 60 foot Garland made from thousands of flowers grown on the estate. Or visit the West Country Market town of Tavistock, brimming with independent shops decorated in the festive spirit.

Join us in the guests' lounge from 6:30 pm for pre-dinner drinks, followed by a delightful three-course dinner served from 7:00 pm. Our festive menu promises a culinary journey that will tantalise your taste buds. After dinner, retire to the lounge for a nightcap, soaking in the enchanting atmosphere and the anticipation of Christmas Day.

 

Christmas Day – A Day of Festive Bliss

Awake to a beautifully festive Devonshire breakfast, complemented by a glass of Champagne. Take your time to enjoy your favourite breakfast delicacies as you plan your day ahead.

After a leisurely breakfast, explore the tranquillity of Dartmoor with a peaceful Christmas Day walk, or recharge in the guests lounge with the warmth of the fire where you can lose yourself in a good book.

At 2:00 pm, indulge in a celebratory pre-dinner drink of your choice, accompanied by canapés. Then, prepare to enjoy a carefully crafted lavish three-course Christmas dinner with all the traditional trimmings. Our attentive staff will ensure that every detail is taken care of, so you can simply sit back and enjoy the festivities.

In the evening, unwind in the lounge, engage in a friendly game of cards, or simply enjoy the company of loved ones. If you feel peckish, a selection of cold meats, cheese, and chutneys will be available to satisfy your cravings. Conclude the day with a slice of delectable Christmas cake and perhaps a final nightcap.
