Local Suppliers

Since opening our doors in 2021 “Palmers” butchers (est c1900) of Tavistock has supplied our hotel with all our meat produce (apart from venison). They hand make their sausages, the beef comes from local farms around Tavistock, whilst the free-range chicken is supplied from Crediton.

 

The succulent Venison we source from “Wild Hart Venison” who make every effort to look after the environment and increase biodiversity. The venison is all Dartmoor reared and responsibly sourced.

 

Fishmonger – Straight from the trawlers in Plymouth we have a weekly fresh fish delivery to the hotel. All responsibly sourced and MSC approved.

 

A J White green grocers in Moretonhamsptead have supplied the hotel for the past year. We were so delighted to find this amazing fruit and vegetable store so local to us. Alice and her Dad pride themselves on sourcing local and seasonal produce where possible of a high standard.

 

Our wine list - Sovereign wines of Tavistock are an independent wine merchant that have been supplying the hotel for the past year. The big driving fource behind choosing Sovereign wines was their knowledge and choice of wines which are all vegan, meaning no chemicals have been added. They have recently opened a shop in Tavistock town now.

 

For the coffee lovers we have sourced roasted coffee on Dartmoor from the Dartmoor Coffee Co.

 

All our cheeses are supplied by “Country Cheese” in Tavistock. Offering a choice of over 150 different cheese’s all matured on the edge of Dartmoor.

 

Whisky – We stock Dartmoor Whiskies and Gin handcrafted on the edge of Dartmoor in Bovey Tracy.   

 

Papillon Gin – Award-winning Dartmoor Gin from the distillery in Moretonhamstead. Named for an endangered Dartmoor butterfly financially donating to local butterfly conservation to protect this species.

 

Dartmoor Ales – There are four ingredients in their brewing, English malt, The finest hops, their own strain of yeast and pure Dartmoor water. A choice of four ales all stocked here at Lydgate, IPA, Jail Ale, Legend and Dragons Breath.
