Nestled beside the River Teign, embark on one of Dartmoor’s most scenic short walks. Leading you through ancient woodland, alongside the river, and eventually up to panoramic views over the gorge below.
The Fingle Gorge circular (approx. 4 miles) walk is mostly flat and easy going, apart from one steep initial ascent to reach the top of the gorge. Once there, the views are absolutely worth it and the rest of the walk is a gentle, well-marked path that winds through peaceful woodland filled with birdsong, mossy boulders, and wildflowers in season.
Don’t Miss:
• Stopping at the old packhorse bridge, a lovely photo spot
• The views from the top of the gorge, especially in golden afternoon light
Top Tip: Don’t forget your binoculars you might spot kingfishers, dippers, or even a shy deer drinking at the river’s edge. Don’t forget your binoculars
