If you’re looking for a walk with a little more drama, Lydford Gorge is a truly unforgettable experience. Owned and cared for by the National Trust, it’s the deepest gorge in the South West. The trails take you on a journey through cool woodland glades, alongside rushing water, and down into shaded depths.
The Whitelady Waterfall is a breathtaking 30 metre cascade that tumbles gracefully through a narrow chasm. Further along the trail, the Devil’s Cauldron awaits, an exhilarating viewing platform.
Enjoy a light bite or cream tea at the National Trust café and browse the small shop for local gifts and maps.
Don’t Miss:
• Whitelady Waterfall in early morning light is an incredibly serene moment
• The Devil’s Cauldron for a touch of wild beauty and dramatic soundscape
• A riverside walk through ancient oak woodland
Local Secret: Visit early or late in the day to enjoy the gorge at its quietest
Top Tip: Wear good walking shoes, the paths can be steep and slippery in places, especially after rain.
